TECHNONICOL CARBON PROF SLOPE - TECHNONICOL

OS 72746455-3.3.1-2012

TECHNONICOL CARBON PROF SLOPE is a set of panels with a slope of 1.7% (panels A and В), 3.4% (panels J and K) and 8.3% (panel М), cut from extruded polystyrene with a thickness of 40 mm, 80 mm, and 70 mm. It is used for creating slopes on a roof.

Scope of application:

  1. Establishing slopes on a roof, increasing a slope or changing the direction of a water flow;
  2. Installing roof sloping in a valley gutter to water intake funnels;
  3. Creating slopes (valleys) at ventilation shafts and roof lights;
  4. Creating an additional slope for removing water from a parapet (counter-slope).

The prevailing problems with the lack of slopes on roofs

  • The operational lifespan of any roof can be significantly increased with the creation of optimal slopes.

One of the main causes of reductions in the operational lifespan of roof coverings is due to the formation of stagnant zones (puddles) on the roof surface. This problem is related to failing to establish or incorrectly establishing slopes and counter-slopes on a roof. Repeated and alternating processes of the freezing and melting of water in stagnant zones results in premature failure of a damp-proof covering.

  • The establishment of a vegetation cover in stagnant zones.

Stagnant zones create ideal conditions for the arrival of a vegetation covering: seeds carried through the air settle in the advantageous conditions in stagnant zones. This results in damage by the roots of plants to the base damp-proof covering and, as a result, to the premature failure of the entire roof construction.

  • The problems of traditional solutions.

Traditional solutions for creating slopes and counter-slopes include the use of cheap particulate insulators (expanded clay, perlite) or light concrete mixtures (expanded polystyrene concrete, expanded clay concrete, perlite concrete).

The use of particulate insulators is fraught with the problem of the material being disturbed, with distortion of the projected slope to follow. Apart from that, large enough granules of particulate insulators (20 mm) prevent a smooth fade in to the slope. The use of light concrete mixtures leads to additional load on the base, an exaggeration of flexing of the load-carrying structure, and increases the cost of the whole roofing system. In roofs with a concrete load-bearing base, the establishment of slopes using traditional methods implies the use of wet-mix processes (watering expanded clay with cement, establishing slopes out of light concrete). All of this complicates reconstruction and establishment works on a roof in negative temperatures.

Various panel insulators are also used for establishing a slope on a roof, which are, with the help of cutting instruments (for example, hand-saws, saws, angle grinders), processed for further use as a sloping layer. Carrying out these works is connected to high costs in terms of time, finances, labour, et c.

CONCLUSION: to obtain the required slope, a cost-effective, rigid, sloping panel must be used. As roof-building practice shows, the optimal slope on a roof should amount to no less than 1.5%, the counter-slope — from 3%.

The application of TECHNONICOL CARBON PROF SLOPE panels provides a means of solving the problem of stagnant zones connected with the establishment of a slope on a roof, increasing a slope, changing the direction of a water flow, establishing roof sloping in a valley gutter to water intake funnels, creating slopes (valleys) at ventilation shafts and roof lights, and creating an additional slope for removing water from a parapet (counter-slope).

Using TechnoNICOL’s slope or counter-slope creation system TECHNONICOL CARBON PROF SLOPE, you gain additional advantages:

  • A reduction of stress on the base owing to the use of low-thickness extruded polystyrene panels;
  • A lack of „wet” processes in the course of carrying out works on establishing slopes and counter-slopes;
  • A significant reduction in labour expenses on creating slopes;
  • A reduction in the time required to carry out works.

Establishing a sloping layer from TECHNONICOL CARBON PROF SLOPE tapered panels cannot fully replace the base thermal insulation layer, required by thermotechnical calculations, due to the variability of the layer’s thickness, in spite of the fact that it is produced from highly efficient thermal insulation material.

Applying a roof slope of tapered thermal insulation has an unarguable advantage — it speeds up and simplifies the installation of a roof even in the winter. Using a sheet-backing coat of flat slate and tapered thermal insulation eliminates „wet” processes from the operating cycle, and also time costs on drying and maturing couplings. Extruded polystyrene foam insulation has а closed-cell structure is unaffected by moisture during roof installation. This simplifies laying and applying it to the roof, which is particularly relevant in Russian construction conditions.
